If I drink water on an empty stomach, even a small amount, I get severe heartburn...and again, until I started taking these darn PPI's, I never had this issues...NEVER...started taking Prevacid for gastitis and now reflux has taken over my life....I mostly have bad days with a few good one skattered here and there..but this morning I had a small drink of water to take my prevacid and the severe burning started...Prevacid is what started this...the ENT who said I had LPR switched me to prilosec, which seemed to make the reflux worse, on Saturday he switched me back to Prevacid. I had two half way good days but this morning as soon as I drank water to take this pill, it has all started back..any suggestions...


I feel so bad for all of you who have been dealing with this for years, it is literally make my life miserable.

Yes I experience this sometimes, haven't found actual cause of it, trying to get rid of the PPI myself. Drinking warm water sometimes help, but i know what your talking about , you drink water and then you feel it come all the way to your throat. I switched to a different PPI (Zegerid) which resolved this, took it for 10 months, but now its not that effective and am trying to come off myself. I tried two leave PPI twice before but failed.

Before I had a nissen fundoplication, I refluxed everything, including water. Never had heartburn caused by water, but then again, I've never actually had heartburn. I suffered from LPR. I find it odd that an ENT would diagnose LPR when heartburn is present.
