Hi Denise,
Thanks again for your response - you are right I'm still early in my recovery and as you say it takes a good six to twelve months for full healing. I think that I've fallen into the trap of expecting too much and pushing myself too quickly - probably as a result of being back at work. At work I have to run not walk and so I think that I've adapted this approach to my eating habits (old habits take a long time to die off).
I have tried to eat slowly again and smaller amounts and I have noticed some improvement although I still have an ache and some mild irritation that seems to arise when I'm a little more stressed throughout the day. I also feel that my stomach is recovering from doing at least 100 sit-ups' - again I have not done this. This occurs more as a result of being on my feet and walking around the classroom a lot, teaching.
Having said all this I know that I am far, far better than before my surgery, which is very good. It is so easy to think that as soon as surgery is over that everything will go automatically to normal immediately (to a state that a non acid reflux person is), which of course is not always the case.
Like you have said, it takes time and this is a lesson that I must learn and apply and so I am not giving up hope because I am doing very well. Thanks again.
