prilosec and nexium side effects?

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had bad side effects with omperazole but did not experience such when moving to nexium.

I tried prilosec and it caused serious breathing issues and wanted to try nexium. But from my understanding the important components of prilosec are converted by the body into the active ingredient of nexium. So hence I am assuming if i had trouble with prilosec then Nexium might give me similar side effects?

I am basically trying to decide whether to try lansoprazole first and then Esomeparazole(nexium) or other way around or not bother with Esomeparazole at all for fear of similar side effect as omperazole. I HATE THE HELL THIS DISEASE GASTRITIS IS CAUSING :(

here in the UK, there is not many ppi to try. I have already dont omperazole and pantoprazole and now only have nexium and lansoprazole and worried they might all cause sever side effects.

I know there is also Dexilant and rabenprazole(Aciphex) and also Tenatoprazole( which I have not seem anywhere for sale.)

I was wondering is there anyway to buy Aciphex and Dexliant and have then delivered to the UK?

A lot of people took nexium and felt great. A lot of people take nexium for years and feel great.

I am not one of those people. Nexium gave me gastritis, anxiety, panic attacks, abdominal cramps i've never felt before, bloated feeling, depression.

My suggestion is try it, see how you feel and if you dont have side effects it's great.

I wrote a post about this a couple of days ago but no body answered. Prilosec caused severe issues to the point that I had to get a ultrasound down of my upper abdominal (still waiting on results) thinking I have some serious disease (twitching, back pain, stomach issues). Not until I spoke with my sister did I realize what PPI's do to magnesium and your bodies ability to absorb calcium. My sister has broken her foot twice because of the issues with the side effects.

I hope you are able to find resolution.

Nexium has the same active compound as omeprazole, but omeprazole has an extra compound that doesn't do anything. So it is likely Nexium will give you the same side effects, you may be better trying lansoprazole or pantoprazole instead.

Also take ranitidine, its not as strong as a PPI but can be taken alongside.

I am presently on rabenprazole and get less side effects than had on nexium which made me feel sick. Still have some heartburn and cough at times. Have also tried pantoprazole but that seemed to make my cough worse. In UK and get these on prescription as last consultant I saw (who was not that very helpful) gave me enough of these two tabkets to see what suited me best.

thank you all for the help, I have tried pantoprazole but it gives me horrid stomach pain, have tried omeprazole and it affects my breathing and now nexium but am so scared it might cause me the same effects as last time. as far as I am aware rabenprazole or dexilant is not available to buy in the Uk.

how did you get rabenrazole in the uk?

is there anyway I can buy rabenprazole or dexilant from the US or internet that is safe and reliable?

I am really worried that nexium although working well in stopping acid might affect my breathing and scared of pantoprazol terrible side effects and I am not sure what to do if such is the case. I am very scared because I tried stopping and almost died from pain and gastritis flareup. If non of the meds work because of side effects, what would i do? This conundrum is causing me so much fear and anxiety.

the only thing Incan think of is to cycle through each of them, 1 week pantoprazole, 1 week nexium and so on. Usually the side effects take about 1 week for pantoprazole and omeprazole, its my last hope.

I am having so much sleepiest night and stress from this, I hate myself and body so much for being so sensitive to just about every medication intake, what a nightmare this gastritis is turning out to be.

I got rabenprazole on prescription - it is commonly prescribed by Consultants apparently in UK and then by GP. Had no problem getting it at local chemist either, though had to wait a day for the pantoprazole.
Ask your GP for it James a
