PPIs Muscle Pain

I'm wondering if PPIs cause anyone else muscle pain or joint pain?

I have some minor musculoskeletal issues and I swear that when I'm on a higher dose PPI (like Dexilant 60mg or adding H2s on top of PPIs) my muscles/back pain gets significantly worse.

Maybe it's in my head, just curious if anyone else has experienced this.

I do. But I don't know if it's because of PPI. I had the muscle pain before I took ppi.
Where specifically do you feel the muscle and joint pain?

I've always had back pain but the more PPIs I take, the more pain I have and it's now migrated into my hip.

I am pretty sure PPIs have escalated the pain because when I take Dexilant the hip pain gets much much worse. Soon as I go back on prilosec, it calms down. Very odd. I wonder how I would feel taking zero PPIs!

Oh yeah, I remember when i was taking pantoprazole which is also a ppi, the pain radiates to my whole arm, it's so disturbing and feels restless, plus the upper back pain. So horrible it was one of my highest peak of anxiety. But it's almost 3 weeks since I finished taking ppi, there's still back pain. I don't know why it stays, or if it's just anxiety. But compared to last month, Im not that worried anymore and dont think too much right now... I just hope it'll disappear eventually..

Hey Paleoman

That was a symptom i had and I quit Prilosec after taking it off and on for close to 10 years cold turkey. I have been off just over two weeks and have not had any real bad acid rebound (just stomach feels acidity) but I am taking Zantac when ever I feel the need. Back pain is close to gone other symptom was twitching in my back which drove me nuts and that is close to gone as well. Also itching which is still there but not as bad.

Hi skooby, where exactly is the twitching? I also feel a twitching in my right upper back, just a few inches from my spine. Im not sure if it is really a twitch or gas. Cant even recognize kinds of pain

The itching radiate all over but mostly in the upper back along the bra line.
