I am now 6 weeks post op and and am having horrible nausea. is this common. it is very bad. does this get better or and if so how long will this last. Please help

I hope you have called your doctor. Mine had me take Nexium, which does stop nausea. I also had Zofran on hand when the nausea was really bad. I was able to get off the Nexium after a while, just did that on my own.

Yes, it's common. It should get better, but you are still in the early healing period. Still, the doctor needs to know. He may have some more questions.

Hiya Jeans, the nausea should improve over time,just keep in touch with your surgeon and make sure he,s aware of how you are feeling as Alice has said.
It can be quite a difficult procedure to recover from for a lot of people.Your stomach and esophagus are very delicate organs and they take quite a battering with a Nissen Fundoplication. Hope you feel better soon! Barry

Thank you guys. I am taking nexium. I guess I need to be careful with the foods I eat. Im so depressed right now. I feel like im never going to get better.

jeans, I suffer with a lot of nausea, not from NF but in general, so here are my tips.

Ginger is great for settling my stomach, if you cant swallow capsules then empty them in a bit of hot water and swallow.

Also try and avoid eating anything cold, I find hot food and drinks to be easiest on my stomach. I also like to use a heating pad on it when its particularly bad and that helps.
