As you might guess me saying, my symptoms are worsening; new ones are appearing that I never had before, and they're all linked to either my swallowing or mucus.
If I don't have any mucus in my throat, or if I swallow too much, my throat becomes extremely tight. This in itself is a highly annoying symptom. So I've been trying to work around it, or stopping it altogether. Instead I've been getting new, extremely distressing symptoms.
If my throat untightens from me swallowing thick mucus/Gaviscon Advance, things get 11/10 bad. Within 5 seconds after the thick stuff sticks in my throat/after I swallow, I get:
- Unable to take a full deep breath, unless I clear my throat or swallow excessively (then the tightness comes back)
- Palpitations from a tight chest
- Occasional burning in throat
- Needing to gasp for air
- Arm/chest pain
- Head pain and a pressure so severe I see colours in front of my eyes when I blink or stare.
- Tension in my jaw/teeth/nose.
In the case of the nose, I cannot breath through it at all. - Sweating/Hot flushes
- Sheer anxiety
I'm worried something is blocking my airways, and I'm unable to breath properly. What especially concerns me is how instant the symptoms are, and that they won't go away until I clear my throat, which only turns the symptoms back the other way. It is of course impossible to take my mind off of 24/7 symptoms like this. If I try to ignore the breathlessness, my body forces me to take a deep breath, but I still can't due to a blockage of some sort. Alkaline Water makes it worse because it makes me swallow mucus down, and Gaviscon Advance is a thick liquid so it gets stuck too. "QuietLife" tablets, distractions and recontrolling my diet also have no effect.
Has my condition screwed up my Vagus nerve or something? Things have been more stressful than usual recently, but I also broke my diet by eating chocolate twice in a row a week ago, and from splashing out around my birthday a month ago... How come none of the tests are picking up my reflux if it's causing all this?
