Dear Baza and Denise
Thanks so much for getting in touch. it really means allot. I didnt mean to post so much, i apologise for making everyone read so much.
Im kind of surprised how easy swallowing is, even taking all 6 of my tablets in one mouthful, they just slide down like before.
But was surprised as most people complain about
delayed swallowing, or hard to get past the LES. but fluids go right down no trouble, (almost too easy) there is no resistance at all, no trapped wind.
Im on a diet of sips of soy milk, normal milk, water and nutrition milk shakes. about
20 - 30 mins after ive finished the cup or almost to the end, I will get a very sour fluid in my mouth, and my stomach will spew everything up into my nose and throat, which will burn allot and causes my larynx to swell, just like before the procedure.
But the volume of liquid and Sour taste is much more severe than before the op.
ive regurgitation most of the day since the operation. I have to keep swallowing it back down to my stomach each time fluid, water or Milk comes back up.
ive never had the chest pain type stabbing that people somteimes describe with reflux but since Ive come to experience it most of the day after something is digested, The traveling of a prickly type heat into the chest, the weight, the foul tasting fluid that fils the mouth, its very unpleasant and the burning is very intense. Taking gaviscon or 20 or so rennie will subdue most of the burning for a while, until i feel my Stomach
open again and sends it all to the back of my thought or nose.
its almost as though they have widened my LES not tightened it. even water that I swallowed 20+ mins before while suddenly be rejected and make its way bak up my oesophagus into my mouth.
Oh and one other thing i have noticed is a sharp stabbing pain in my left shoulder when the reflux occurs that suddenly disappears, very strange, I thought that this might have been the Acid aggravating the Vagus nerve, which also may be contributing to my elevated heart rate.
I took your advice and tried a little bit of warm tea. sadly it seemed to cause problems almost straight away. I got the similar reaction and after a few minutes of finishing, I brought the tea back up into my mouth.
Yeh ^ _ ^ your recovery journal Denise! was a very interesting read. it was one of the fist things I read when I was recommended the surgery. I think it has helped many people!
To be honest, I wish the wrap would swell more to stop the food coming back up into my throat. I wouldnt mind if things are a little hard to get down, at least they would stay down haha.
Thats why I was so worried, because my symptoms are the same as Pre-Op But much worse. Ive never heard of anyone having trouble keeping things down and easier than ever to get things down.
Yeh, I remember hearing on another post about
your infection after the Op, it most have been hell, im glad your wrap held together and things are going well for you ^ _ ^ v
Yeh, I was in for a shock when I had those cramps, I was screaming like a baby for hours. I love going to the gym and working out, I dont think ive ever done so many hard sit-up/type exercises in my life.
It was like holding a painful Crunch position (head and ankles 8 inches off the bed) for about
10 seconds, every few minuets for about
5 hours. I was exhausted and shaking from the pain. I had a shock too the following morning when I fell out of bed and ruptured some of my entrance wounds. whether i had done some damage to the wrap then i dont know. the following morning when one of the surgeons understudies told me, oh by the way we didnt do a full wrap, and also whatever you do, dont strain your muscles in yoru stomach, because I could herniate the wrap, or disfigure it. they also told me that they had to cut my stomach free from its place in the abdomen which meant that form now on, i would be at risk or hernation through the chest cavity. I told them that Im young and very active, I like to Box and work out, so I wanted a wrap that was a solid. Anyhow im trailing off a little, so when they told me not to do those things, I suddenly thought, "Oh my god!! > _ < last night I did the most intense abdominal workout of my life" and was much sorer for it, and ofcorse falling out of my bed didnt help things.
Yeh, your absolultey right Denise, When i woke up from the op, i thought, I was in a lot of pain, but i didint regret it. Suddenly ive started to put things into my stomach again and now my symptoms seem much worse than before. To be honest, thats where my cogs started turning and putting pieces of the puzzle together in that im experiencing almost the opposite of what I had been told would happen.
I thought - difficult swallowing, trapped wind, maybe belching, cramps, dumping syndrome, Pain.
But instead im getting worse symptoms than before, I can easily swallow anything with no trouble, and have the worse reacurring throat buringing, regurgitation, Acid reflux, Ive also lost my voice like I did before, the milk is just horrible when it comes back into my mouth, doesnt taste the same as first time round haha.
Yeh, I think your really doing a great job on here, and also the other members. It seems a very supportive environment.
Oh really?? :) youve known people who have experienced liquids or food coming back up form their stomach? or reflux type symptoms?
I find that comforting ^ ^
haha actually, rather ironically, the soy milk I had finished just before replying, has gone into my nose. stings like crazy.
Thanks for writing back to me, I appreciate it allot, I really hope that it hasn't failed and that I dont need a second surgery, I heard on here that the partial wrap is inferior to the full wrap, But Then I read on the internet that the partial wrap is a revised version of the full wrap and can causes far less problems.
man!! haha this shoulder pain is brutal.
as far as the physical operation goes, my wounds seem to be healing well, (Laparascopic) and even though I cant walk fully straight yet ( I walk like a slow neanderthal at the moment ;) at least I can walk a little to the kitchen or to the next room. im still taking parecetomol and Codeine, Anti sickness and my 60 mg of lansorpasol again.
before the op, I had mainly motility trouble, regurgitation of everything that went past my lips, and abdominal pain. The doctors at first was sure it was Visceral Hypersensitivity but because my Acid reflux was episodic, they couldn't find evidence, The saving grace was I requested a Larynx inspection and when they checked, had found my vocal cords were severely damaged and only one side was currently working. That was the evidence I need for myself to get the op.
Yeh! Im glad I joined, I will try and post as often as I can !!!
