So it's six days after surgery and I feel pretty darn good. The surgeon said most of my stomach was in my chest, but everything went well with the procedure. I stayed overnight and went home the next morning. The neck and shoulder pain from the gas was the worst, but it's almost gone now. This morning I took my usual walk which is about
40 minutes there and back. I stopped taking the PPI and have had no reflux so far. So now I'm waiting to see if having normal stomach acid will help my IBS-d. It will take some time to see about
that. Overall I'm glad I took this proactive approach rather than watchful waiting. I have no trouble eating anything I want, although I'm being careful to chew thoroughly and take small bites. Seems like my appetite is a little smaller (that's a good thing.)
