Did you have much less reflux during pH study?

I had hardly any during my test yesterday which is so unlikely I can't believe it. I usually can lie flat for more than 15 min. but slept flat all night, no problem. And no acid aspiration, burning or throat or chest tightness.

Is it possible that the mamometry test before, or the pH test itself does something that reduces reflux. Maybe the electricity tightens the valves temporarily?

Of course, now that the probe is out, the reflux is acting up off and on all day.

Thanks for letting me know you had a similar experience. You're braver than me, no way I'm repeating that test.

Makes me wonder about using electrical stimulation as a treatment. I know about the endostim which they implant internally. but i wonder if just electrical stimulation daily from a TENS-type unit applied over the LES would have a similar effect.

Was just surprised at the dramatic difference in my symptoms during the test. I even got up and ate in the middle of the night(trying to set off the heartburn) and went back to bed and still didn't get any symptoms. I wish someone would do some studies on externally applied electrical stimulation to see if it helped.

well the reflux is back full force. tried to sleep flat last night and am suffering the consequences. Do Doctors know of the potential of the test to greatly reduce what you're trying to measure?

If I mention this to my gi doc, is he going to think I'm just crazy?
