I'm trying to gather as much information/testimonials about the Reza Band as possible. Are there any knowledgeable members of this community that have any experience with it?

For anyone that's looking for more information, the Reza Band is not available for purchase in the US. The website lists clinical trials, but I do not live in the area. Google searches reveal that the company has been trying to get the product to market since 2012. The Reza Band is designed to keep acid out of the throat, and is a product that is to be worn overnight.

I suffer from LPR and have had no relief since doing a fundoplication. As a licensed investment banker, I am constantly speaking and looking for a cure to my sore throat and hoarse/weak voice. There seems to be very limited information about the product at this time. I'm specifically seeking out answers if it helps LPR, and if there is information about people wearing it during the day (my LPR seems best in the morning, and worse as the day goes on!)

Hi,

As far as I'm aware the Reza Band is not yet available to purchase. I don't know of anyone that was involved with the clinical trials either, sorry.

I myself have NERD and LPR, and know how you feel it's odious. Have you contacted the company directly to see where you could purchase one?
I myself live in the UK, I have actually hired an engineer to make me a similar prototype which I'm expecting next week. this I will use myself during the night and during the day especially after eating which are my worst times.
I will let you know if it gives me any relief.

Sounds like you have some cool things going on. I have called directly to Somna who runs the clinical trial. Unfortunately I do not live in the clinical trial area and so getting selected is out of the question for now. General answer is that it will get FDA approval in 2015. I can't seem to find anyone that has tried the trials, must be a small group!

LPR,

Could I ask you how the recovery has been after you have had the partial fundoplication, have you been able to eat and drink okay now, and has your reflux reduced?

I have sever motility problems made worse by reflux and soon going for a partial, so if appreciate any advice.

Hey pink

My dr had done around 1000 fundos, only about 10 did what mine did. I had one of the lowest motility scores that he performed a full wrap on. In his experience, partial wraps don't help with LPR.

After doing the surgery, I was in extreme indescribable pain. I was morphined up to the max, but I still dry heaved for 3 days because I couldn't swallow. Spent 10 days in the hospital after he reduced to a partial wrap. Every day goes better than the one before, and 2 months later only bread gives me pain when I eat it. Reflux did not get better however.

What the dr is hoping is that we can get me a Reza band in 2015 (he has no more info than I, probably less actually because I made a call to the company), and in late 2015 check my motility again to see if the partial wrap made it improve. If it improved, I will go under again for a full wrap.

Just to reiterate, I'm doing fine now but I don't see any improvement with the partial. I'm looking at non surgical alternatives like the Reza band while I let the wrap heal for the time being.

Pre surgery my LES would stay open for hours at a time according to the bravo capsule that was put in. Average person is 5 minutes or less. I don't know what the stats are post surgery for me, but I can tell I am still refluxing.

As my dr said, a drop of acid in the chest is like a drop of acid in the ocean, you can't tell. But a single drop of acid in the throat is like a drop of acid in the eye. It only takes a little to cause massive damage.

Have you had a chance to try your self engineered Reza Band? Any results?

Wow...I'd never even heard of a Reza Band! I wish you the best of luck in finding an answer to your problems. If it would be helpful for you, I hope you get the opportunity to try it!

Hi LPR,
I am still waiting on the prototype but will let you know how it goes.

I did have one I cobbled together myself which did a fairly good job - it was a thick elastic material with Velcro attached at the ends and I sewed in a squash ball in the middle, which presses against your cricoid - it's the same principle.

I wear this during the day underneath a scarf, and it does work quite well, you could maybe try this until you get the real Reza Band?
