Dear Trotters, GC1pink, MyUniqueMe, hairy debbie
Im sorry for not including you in my previous post, i didnt see your replies untill just now.
It realy warms my heart and moved me to tears reading your suportive meseges.
As it realy hits home what im gong through. Ive esentialy lost my life. I was working full time in construction, I was healthy, worked out regualy at the gym, visited museums and art galleries, everything was perfect. (apart from the reflux ofcourse)
Now i feel like a withered old man who spends his life in bed, ive realy waisted away, im too physicaly weak to go anywhere.
My head has been spinning round about
how this could happen, how could i have the surgery and be 10x worse.
Its just doesnt make sense.
Did anyone else have there surgery privatley in the UK? how much did it cost?
Dear Trotters
Im sad to hear that you went through a similar thing to me, as I wouldnt wish it on anyone, it realy is hell.
Im interested in the increased pressure rate of 1 that yoru doctor mentioned. when I swallow, i can feel a little resistance, but hardley anything, But what is causing the reflux to shoot up, i dont know. everythign feels tight and swolen. Part of me isscared of getting another consultant because of the waiting and he might make a worse job than Dr Li has.
Dear GC1pink
They gave me some tablets that make my stomach empty fast, but they dont make a difference in my case sadly. Oh you knew Dr Li, Yes he was very self assured of his work. Did you just have some consultations with him? or the surgery itself? does Dr Akhtar at Manchester work for the NHS or private? Thank you for the recomendations, did you have one of these surgeons perform you precedure?
Dr Li said he wont do a re-op until he gets the tests, he said if i have the PH study and shows its fallen apart, then he will take a look, if not then he thinks its Slow emptying of the stomach (even though a single bite first thing in the morning refluxes back up) but he said hes goign to refer me to the GI anyhow, it sounds like hes already made up his mind.
it might seem silly, but do i go to my GP to get a second opinion? or do i go to PAL's (as Ive already filed a complant against Manchester royal infirmry after they lost my referals, and kept me waiting 2 years fo rteh operation) or contact the hospital or secretary of the new surgeon directly?
Dear MyUniqueMe
No need to apologise, I apreciate any advice I can have at this stage. Your words are very moving and I apreciate your suport. Im sorry to hear about
all the trouble youve had with past surgeries and incapable doctors. Its very frustraiting.
I know, I was suprised too, he didnt seem phased. I was crying uncontrolibly in my consultation because of what ive been going through these last 5 months, i tried but couldnt hold it back.
after what you said about
food, i definatley know something is wrong. how much can you eat at your stage? I can only eat a cracker or 2 at once, then i have to leave a 3 or 4 hour gap and even then i might only be able to eat another cracker or a digestive. are you still in pain after eating, or abdominal pain in general? did you have a full wrap or patial? The recovery was very painful for me, i was in agony for about
3 months, and i even have som epain now on teh side where my liver is. ( I understand they actualy cut the liver free to get to the esophagus during the Op)
and im going to try and see a second opinion. I cant aford to have this done privatley, so it will have ot be free on the NHS, but I have to find a good surgeon (DR Li was suposed to be the best) or so I was told.
