Given the epidemiology of EAC, the yield of endoscopic screening examinations in those under 50, and in women, regardless of age or GERD symptoms, is exceedingly low, and may approximate the low risk of the endoscopic procedure itself.
I think I read once, I think from Nicholas Shaheen, that the risk of esophageal cancer in women with symptoms is roughly similar to the risk of breast cancer in men, and greater than the risk of esophageal cancer in men without symptoms.
