I had my surgery on Thursday . And they did that test u drink a swallow of this NASTY drink and I had only a hair line going into my stomach. So thank goodness I can burp cause it sure has made me feel soooooo much better. I don't know how those that can't burp can handle all that gas.

I can too. Had mine on 12/23 and Barium Swallow test showed everything good too. We're called the "lucky" ones!

So, both of you had barium Swallows done after your nissen surgery? I'm just curious, because I had my nissen surgery last March and my doctor did not require one. Additionally, I could not burp after surgery until just recently for some odd reason. However, my doctor said that was normal and given you two can burp, I guess it is normal. :) Thank you for your posts.

Yes I need have the barium swallow BUT it just trickled in . But getting better. I sip cold stuff I read the cold keeps the swelling down.

My doctor did not require a barium swallow after my Nissen, either.

Why they had to do the swallow was because the water was coming up my throat .so they put me on Zofran and did the swallow.

I take Zofran on an as needed basis, but I also use pure ginger chews for nausea.
