At the beginning of November I developed a sore throat which lasted for approximately 10 days. Immediately after that I started to have a continuous dry mouth, bad taste in my mouth and nausea. This would last all day. I have absolutely no heartburn, cannot feel acid washing up into my mouth either. The only time I feel respite from this is when I am eating. As a result I put on 10lbs. My Doctor put me on omezaprole which had absolutely no effect. I have had an encotomy which showed class B erosion of my esophogus - ergo I have Acid Reflux Disease according to my Gastroenterologist. I have had the two gall bladder tests and my gall bladder is fine. After telling my Doctor that the omezaprole is doing nothing he doubled my dose. Result - still doing nothing. He sent me back to the Gastroenterologist who showed my my esophagus pictures and insisted that I had actid reflux. I asked him if it could be LPR and he looked kind of blank and said no. I said is it just a coincidence that all this started after a sore throat and he said yes. I disagree, I think the two are related. He changed my medication to Dexilant which he himself takes daily and told me to go back in 6 weeks.
I am going to call my doctor tomorrow and ask for a referral to an ENT to see if I have LPR although I do not have any pain in my ears. I have a dry mouth, bad taste, creamy saliva sometimes, mucus and a feeling that there is an obstruction in my throat. I have been working out and I have lost 14lbs. I have also given up smoking on New Years Day. I have to drink water all day long to cope with the dry mouth and the bad taste. Does anyone have any ideas if this is LPR or something else.
