Toupet longevity

I have had all the testing done and i am a candidate for a partial wrap.i have read alot of positive posts on this site , but will only have this surgery if it will last atleast 20 years. My surgeon tells me it will last forever if i do my part and eat small meals frequently. I am 43 and don't want to have to have this surgery every 5 or 10 years. Most of the positive post on here are people who have only had their wrap for a few years. Does anyone know if it can last for 20 years ? I am tired of dealing with muscle pain from ppi drugs but am afraid of possible problems after surgery. I know the recovery is tough, im willing to deal with that if i can be drug and heartburn free for many years without other complications. I also wonder why most of you don't post on here who your surgeons are ? Im in maryland and i think i have the best surgeon i can find but would like to hear some names of other surgeons near me from people who have had successful wraps !! Any help would be great , just having a hard time making this decision!!

I have been telling my doctors for years about my muscle pain! They all say its not the medicine, so I believed them until I stopped taking ppis and switched to an h2 blocker and the pain subsided. I have switched to another gi doctor at the university of md who does agree its the meds. Ive had lots of blood work that came back pretty much normal. Ive taken ppis since they exsisted. The h2 blocker just doesn't work very well to battle my reflux . Thank you alice for your response!!

I have had a toupet wrap - and it's early days for me, so I am watching for more replies like yourself. I agree with Baza - 10 years would be good - but I have to say they will give surgery a time frame like this in general. It's like anything - some people will never look back, some people will have failure early on - and some may need a re-do in time. The only meds I have taken since my op are pain killers for residual op pain. I see this as a more permanent cure to my GERD, and my hiatal hernia was fixed at the same time. If in 10 years time I need a re-do - then I would do it again.
