Taking PPI at night?

Does anyone take their daily PPI dose at night? Do you find that works better than taking it in morning?

I take mines morning now but I find it wears off and I wake up with a bad sore throat in morning. Increasing the dose and taking one at night is too strong for me it makes me feel sick so I'm thinking of taking it at night since thats when all hell seems to break loose.

yes i was instructed to take rantindine at night, maybe you could call a pharmacist and see what she/he says. you can also call the manufacturer which you can find on line what their toll free number is. you can of course call the doc but sometimes it is hard to get a call back

PPIs need to be taken about 20-30 minutes before you eat to be effective. My doctor told me this and I was just listening to another doctor speak about how so many individuals that take PPIs do not take them at the correct time; thus, they would prove to not be as effective as they could be.

Possibly if you take them later in day about 20 minutes or so before you eat (dinner?)

I actually didnt even last until 11 am before taking my pill. I need to call my Dr in morning because when I was drinking water I felt my esophogus close, it was scary I have never felt that before. Im going to discuss new med options because this isnt working.

Tim that is interesting I thought PPI's needed to be taken an hour prior to eating.

pharmacist here :)

Taking them 30 minutes before a meal is ideal, but if that's an issue for you just take it at the same time everyday whenever is most convenient.
