Hi everyone,I'm new here. I have lots of questions about recovery time and what to expect.I will be having procedure sometime in the next few weeks and am afraid.I am concernd about how soon can return to work, I work as an aid for people with disabilitys and some with aggresive behavors .What will be my weight lifting restrictions?.If they are strict hopefully my employer is accomedating,Also worried about too much weight loss, currently@ 115 lbs but I'm only 5 ft. but dont want to lose to much. Any input into what to expect would appreciate Thanks

My doctor said that I would be off work for 3 weeks and he was very clear that I should lift nothing over 10 lbs under any circumstances. I'm only less than a week into recovery but I would have to say that the Dr's advice sounds right to me. You have a physically challenging job and might need to be on light duty restrictions for a few weeks. Definitely talk with your doctor about that when your selecting dates and such.

I was out for 4 weeks and came back to work with a 15 pound restriction for 4 more weeks. Thankfully my job was workable with that. I lost 27 pounds but I had it to lose. I have read a lot of stories and most say they gain it back in short time.

I am 4 months out of surgery and my best advice to you is to take it slow. Your body will let you know if you are eating too fast or not chewing well enough. Slow wins the race :)

I don't know much about recovery time from the surgery, just wanted to wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery!
