I'm on my last bottle, with just a few left, and can't locate the regular strength tablets anywhere. The regular strength tablets are unique in that they have magnesium trisilicate along with the alginic acid. I called one place where the pharmacist said that there's some sort of recall going on, and the only tablets available are the cherry ones, which use magnesium carbonate, and don't have as much alginate.
I found a similar Walgreen's version, but it also uses the magnesium carbonate...and has double the dose of aluminum and magnesium...which means the alginate is probably half as much per tablet. I don't like to get so much aluminum and magnesium in my system because of a tendency towards kidney stones.
The liquid Gaviscon has very little alginate in it, and hardly foams or coats at all.
I may try the Walgreen's one, but I'd prefer the Gaviscon tablets if I could find them. Any ideas?
