Antibiotics wreaked havoc, dont know what to do now

Hi, ive been battling with Gerd and Gastritis for a few years now. Things had been going ok until i got a suspicious looking insect bite and was put on high strength antibiotics for a week. A few days in I started to feel nauseous a lot, but i persevered and took the full week and finished on Wednesday. Since then things have been getting progressively worse, i am so nauseous now all the time that i can barely function and barely eat. Ive been taking lots of probiotics and sticking to a bland diet but the nausea just doesnt seem to be getting better.

Ive been taking anti nausea meds but they dont help at all. Im just lying in bed all day unable to function or even concentrate on anything because the nausea is so bad.

Has anyone else had such a reaction to antibiotics? Why is it getting worse after ive finished them :(

I'm still suffering with the effects of this, my appetite has returned a bit but I'm still so nauseous I can't really function. I've been on holiday from work for 3 weeks and am due to return on Monday but I just don't know how I'm going to manage it. The only thing that relieves it is lying down, when I sit up its worse.

It's now 3 weeks since I finished the antibiotic and I can't believe it would cause such lasting effects with no improvement, but I can't think of any other reason for the sudden onset of nausea :(

What do you mean by "lots of probiotics"? Too much probiotics can also cause problems. How are much are you taking and from what sources?

Yes, antibiotics can cause digestive distress because they unbalance the flora in your gut. If they are killing bad bacteria then they are also probably killing some of the good bacteria too. Though it does depend on the antibiotic because some only target viruses and not bacteria.
