I'm reporting back on eating fresh tomatoes. I'm 6 weeks post op today and unfortunately, as WONDERFUL as the tomatoes were, I don't think I'm ready yet for any FRESH vegetables.
I've been suffering for my indulgence ever since. I only had a couple of peeled tomato slides on toast with mayo, and a small quantity of fresh cucumber later at dinner. I have increased chest pain in the center of my chest. It's a definite set-back for me and I'm depressed about
it, too.
I know it's still early in my recovery, but most other people I've been following have not had issues like this, or is it still too soon for me? I'm due for my final follow-up visit with my surgeon on Aug. 17th and I SO wanted to be feeling so much better.
I walk almost every day at least one mile and am still careful not to overdo my activities (still off work) but have been doing some yard work but being careful. I am down to 2 pain meds over a 24-hour period and back on my Xanax to help with my stress and anxiety over my frustration.
I sleep good but don't feel well for about
2-3 hours after I get out of bed. Some nausea and no appetite; this is not new.
I've held off posting my recovery journal until I can feel much better.
teapot, I'm so glad you are doing so good and I'm right behind you in age (68), but you are now 4 months post-op; much further along than I, so I'm trying to hang in there. At what point in your recovery did you try tomato-based foods?
Any comments/thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking I should go back to 'liquids' for awhile.....
