Pain where hernia is

I have been getting a pain right where my hernia is located. It is especially bad if I bend over. Its a dull achy type of pain. Does anyone else experience this? My gastro claimed I had a small hernia so I don't understand how I can feel it.

My hernia has ranged from small to large but I've never had any actual pain from it apart from heartburn. It could be some gastritis, or reflux at the base of the esophagus perhaps? Or does it feel different to heartburn?

Hernias can become trapped from blood flow and become painful, but I understand that the pain is excruciating and the condition is life threatening so probably isn't the case, but if it ever does get that bad do call an ambulance.

I have very recently had this experience, started out as you have it LAWCHICK for about a week, then escalated to the worst pain I have ever experienced (and I recently had an acute case of gallstones threatening to turn to pancreatitis) requiring a trip to the hospital, but they were reluctant to do anything because I wasn't vomiting (another sign of a trapped hernia) and I was seeing my GI this week. I will let you know after my appointment today what the outcome was.

I never had pain from my hernia until it turned into a paraesophageal type hernia and then yes I have pain all the time right under my sternum and chest pain. It was awful.

My pain has been chalked up to my gall bladder removal, either SOD or a stone stuck in a duct. Both of those, esp SOD, are way more common in people without gall bladders so if you still have yours its unlikely thats what your pain is from.

The other potential is that its pain from the acid, it can get bad enough to rival the pain of a heart attack so its not at all unfeasible that this is whats happening in your case.

This pain does feel different from my usual heartburn but who knows maybe its just from the acid.
