Honey is a good soother, even if you just take a teaspoon by itself. I tend to opt for using ice blocks to sort of numb my throat, it seems to reduce any spasms that are going on as well. You could also try a throat spray, there is a Strepsils one here which is antiseptic and a mild local anesthetic that seems to do the trick.
I have always had the burning throat, but it has started happening in the morning since I changed meds. I didn't think my reflux was as bad at night since I stopped eating and drinking too close to bed but my 24hr ph test showed I actually have worse reflux at night, and it makes sense because its much easier for acid to come up when you are lying down.
To prevent it happening you should raise the head of your bed, just propping yourself up on pillows doesn't work because it puts more pressure on your stomach, so you need to either put some bricks under the bed to lift it, or get a wedge pillow which goes right down to your hips so you are on an angle while you sleep. Also avoid eating and drinking for 2-3 hours before bed. These things will help to prevent it happening in the first place, but it will take a while to heal.
