Thanks for the reply, Alcie. Yes, I did have a hiatial hernia repaired at the same time. For the rest, I was told that "the procedure went well", so I'd figure that there were no further issues. As I write this, around 12 hours after my OP, I feel a bit better. The nausea {it was only slight, after all} seems to have gone and a good bit of the stinging has abated. Also the area around the sternum is much more comfortable. All in all I now feel a bit like a scaremonger, but those symptoms have built over a week, only to vanish, seemingly, overnight. I did talk it over with my surgeon on Thursday, he suggested a few days back on on 40mg Nexium then back them off again. This to determine whether or not the problems were due to reflux or dumping. I see him again in 6 weeks, if the problem hasn't gone away by then we'll do a barium swallow to investigate further. That's why I brought the issue here for the consideration of those - ie people who've been at the sharp end of recovery - who do really do know what they're talking about. Thanks, your words, along with my own improved day, have reassured me a good deal.
