I've suffered with esophageal spasms for years, though mine don't sound as severe as yours. What does your doctor say about this diagnosis and how are they treating it?
Everyone has them for different reasons.
In my case, my years of drinking alcohol combined with GERD caused erosive esophagitis which in turn caused my esophagus a lot of irritation and inflammation which caused my spasms. My esophageal spams would also cause my heart to race (known as SVT).
For some reason, red wine seems to trigger my spasms, so I have eliminated all alcohol from my diet and don't plan on drinking any in the near future.
Make sure you are getting enough magnesium in your diet. There was a time when I was only eating mashed up bananas and apple slices because I couldn't eat much of anything else. I was even making my own baby food using recipes I found on the internet.
After a few weeks of eating like that and losing a lot of weight, I was finally able to start eating more solid foods. I made a lot of boiled vegetables and mashed them up. Then I make chicken vegetable soup. In order to get the probiotics that I needed I would drink 1-2 tablespoons of organic sauerkraut juice once a day during the first week, then twice a day, and by the 3rd week I was doing it after each meal. A probiotic supplement should also do the trick.
