The Nissen CAN be undone and/or redone. There are doctors that specialize in undos and/or redos. Like Bill said, you just have to find the right surgeon. It took me hours and hours (and hours) of research to find a Top U.S. surgeon who specializes in undos and redo. My complete undo was performed as an open procedure; he wanted to ensure he had access to everything and that he could remove all excess scar tissue. The surgery was a success!

My guess is that it's the same surgeon. While I prefer not to reveal the surgeons name, I will tell you that his office is located in Lorton Station. Please ensure you review the results of your tests and MAKE SURE you need the surgery, don't just let the surgeon tell you that you need it. If you results are "normal" as mine were, then I would recommend not having the surgery done. The surgeon I had, and in my experience, did not have a good bedside manner, told me conflicting things from one visit to the next, and even wrote conflicting things in his operative reports and his office notes.

Ok, sounds like it is the same surgeon. I was referred to this guy by my ENT, so I think I'll call my GI doc and see if there is anyone else that he recommends. There has to be someone else in the DC area that can do this surgery well. I definitely had abnormal results from all of my tests except manometry; there is no question that I have reflux, but whether the surgery will eliminate the symptom that persists despite high doses of medication (throat tightness). However, I dealt with a doctor with poor bedside manner when I first developed this condition, and I won't do it again. I'll go to my consultation with this surgeon, but I think I'll seek a second opinion.

Please do your research to find the best surgeon you can and don't limit yourself to the DC area. I traveled many miles and even visited out of state docs before I found one to completely undo the mess that the Lorton doctor unnecessarily created (i.e. I never needed the surgery to begin with). I finally went to a top U.S. surgeon at a University hospital. He was the best doctor I've ever been to and now I'm back to normal thanks to him. He told me that my insides were "twisted" and my case was very complex. Just goes to show you how poorly the Lorton doctor performed my surgery.

Please advise us on your progress at longterm. Has the reflux gone worse than before? Do u have any other issues now that your wrap is off. You must be able to belch/vomit now (what a relief!). I also did a big mistake trusting my surgeon & underwent the surgery which was not needed. I also want mine unwrapped & hope to get better same as I was before this horrible surgery.

Anyone else had the wrap taken down/undone??
