Anyone get insane insomnia while taking PPIs?

I have slept 3 hrs yesterday and tonight I can't fall asleep. I've tried nexium, dexilant, pariet, and pantozol. They all are giving me the same horrible side effects. Insomnia , anxiety, burning feet, hot flashes.

If i stop them I burn like hell, if I take them I go insane, I'm so desperate I don't know what to do. Any advice please

I've read drowsiness can happen, not insomnia. What other meds are you taking if any?

Gaviscon, DGL in the morning, and slippery elm after meals

how long have you been with gerd?
if its your first time then your body might be in a little "shock" that your having acid splash into your esophogus creating anxiety. Matter in fact acid hitting the esophogus also may stimulate the vagus nerve (located near the esophogus) which can cause heart palpitations or anxiety feeling.

you need to lay down on a angle when you sleep to prevent acid commin up.
also, try eating a low carb diet so abdominal gas pressure wont push acid into the esophogus.

I remember the first time taking PPI's I also couldnt sleep and had anxiety. I kept waking up during the night short of breath sometimes too.

Last year I was diagnosed with GERD taken PPI for 6 weeks. During that time I developed Anxiety and not sleeping at all. The most I was sleeping was 2 hrs. I tried taking anxiety meds but it seems to worsen my GERD but I was able to sleep. I did try the wedge pillow which helped but gave me back pain. The I was sleeping on a recliner chair until I got me a reclining bed. Reclining your bed helps. Also sleeping on your left side. Diet will play an important part of this situation. Take down notes on what you eat and avoid those trigger foods.

We are all different but prayers had helped me. It's been almost a year. I had wean myself from PPI for 10 months and now been eating normally. I'm still not eating foods that hard to digest. During that time, I cannot eat anything except for salmon cooked with ACV, bitter melon, and 2 tps of rice per meal. I drink Yakult after each meal which had helped me. Probiotic capsule at night. I ate frequently but in small portion. I was also drinking some supplements (Boost), in order for me to get my strength.

There's always hope to get better. God bless.
