The Stretta, has anyone had this done?

Hi, I am new to the site. Eight years ago I had the Hill Repair done by Dr. Aye in Seattle, Wa. The surgery was a success for 8 years but now my latest EGD says the Repair has loosened a bit and I do experience some reflux again.

My surgeon, Dr. Aye, is suggesting that I have a procedure called The Stretta Radio Frequency to tighten the LES junction and tighten the loosened Repair.

I would love to talk to someone who has had this procedure and find out the results, good or bad, and any other info you have about the recovery, etc.

I had a Nissen fundoplication done for my GERD and LPR 8 years ago. I was in heaven for about 5 years and then the symptoms came back, but not as bad as before. I tried to take medications again and it did not matter. I am thin and athletic and really watch my diet, but it did not matter. I was told about the Stretta by a co-worker who had it done and was very happy. I had mine done 3 years ago, and have been happy since then. I take no medications and can even eat normally again. I was told by the doctor that the reason my reflux came back was that Nissen stretched over time and that the Stretta wold tighten it back up again...and he was right! I hope that this helps you.

Hi, Thank you both for responding. LPR Queen, your experience is similar to mine. My surgery has loosened up and my surgeon thought that the Stretta might tighten it up again. I also play a lot of Pickleball sports. Did your surgeon feel like playing sports might have contributed to your Nissan loosening up?
I am happy to hear that your Stretta worked for you. Could you tell me about your recovery? How long did it take before the Stretta began to work for you? How long did you take the meds before you had to stop? Who did your Stretta? Did you have any complications? I think you have to get a doctor who has good experience at doing this procedure, do you agree?

Pat, thank you for your advice. I did look up the history of Stretta on this board and it was helpful. I wish more success stories would report back but mostly we hear about the failures.
