Post Surgery stomach

I did not have Nissen wrap but the robotic Laparoscopic Hiatal Hernia repair with mesh. I received Miralax Tuesday evening I believe and I am still constipated. My doc said I could have ice cream so I've had ice cream every day and pudding along with plenty of fluids. I don't want to just take a laxative because I don't want to make my stomach too upset.

I have also noticed a few times I will have a gasp of air almost like a hiccup and it feels like my stomach jumps then a pain.

However, I have had no acid, no reflux, nothing. I can tell if I have too much food is like my stomach puffs and will hurt or really uncomfortable. Since, I didn't have Fundoplication my diet is a little different and recovery is different so I'm not sure whether I still can't have caffeine, citrus or chocolate. I prepared myself thinking I would have the Nissen, now is hard getting info on hiatal repair only. I try to limit my soup intake from 2 to 4 oz.

Is there anyone who only had large hiatal repair without the Nissen wrap?

I'm gradually eating a little more. I still have ache and a sensation like an ab cramp by my stomach. I went grocery shopping today and think I may have overextended myself.

Men be glad that you do not have to experience PMS while recovering. The extra gas and cramping is just not fun. I started having sore, tender pain under my skin, like at the bottom of my rib cage area, left side near the center and also a sore burning sensation in other areas (not where incisions are) near upper abdomen. I'm guessing the underlying stitches for my diaphragm may be causing that discomfort.

On the positive note, to be able to drink and eat without food literally staying in my chest is so very great! I forgot what it felt like to eat without feeling miserable and uncomfortable or sick. I wish I knew how bad my hernia was and got this surgery 10 years ago.
