Shortness of Breath sufferers: Another update from heyerfan and something I wish I had in hand last year when things were so bad, so horrible. If I had know this and known where to get the help I needed much less suffering and trauma: more specific easier diagnosis to remember Vocal Cord Dysfunction. So many different names under this umbrella for larynx issues. Lot of cross referencing research before finding the help I really needed.

This site above has everything you need to know with contacts and clinics that treat this. Turns out the real remedy for serious SOB and oxygen CO2 challenges is speech therapy. Of course you have to get the GERD under control and the inflammation out and you are now hypersensitive and anything will set you off. But if you still have severe damage like mine, then its on to speech therapy. I will be traveling to Denver soon to see the experts on VCD at the National Jewish Medical & Research Center.

one of the things with SOB is a bad case of anxiety which your doctors should treat you for. Your symptoms are real but the anxiety will make the breathing issues worse. Also, you need to go on an alkaline diet, no acidic foods or liquids and this is about what touches your throat and esophagus. Not about stomach acid so much. No carbonate drinks either. Check out the Kaufman diet. If trachea and lungs are involved, not sure what it takes to bring those down. I was finally evaluated at the National Jewish Institute and diagnosed as inflamed still but not damaged, with minor effects to back of lungs. They know how to look and evaluate this problem (VCD). I can only speak from where I've been but sure wish knew all of this from the beginning, but there just wasn't much info out there and the doctors just don't seem to know and write you off.

Fatigue can be related to heart issues, but it is also oxygen starvation causing fatigue. anxiety can cause your heart to beat or feel off as well.

Hey everyone I’m new here. I got on this forum due to my air hunger and daily heartburn. Anyway my situation is similar to many here in that I experience air hunger. HOWEVER my air hunger comes on mainly upon mental or physical excertion or extreme stress, not mild stress. I can’t take a run for example because that would lead me to severe air hunger. The reason I have looked into GERD and this thread is because in 2014 I did a test which was like an ultrasound I think, to look for ulcers. Anyway before the test I had to take some liquid solution which to date I have no idea what it’s called because when I called them they could not give me a clear answer. That day I felt better than usual and I realized I could even stand up longer than usual without the air hunger. So I was like what is it that’s made me feel better. So I remembered the solution. I then realized that my breathing issue was somehow linked to my stomach. I was so constipated that I needed to do up to 2 water enemas daily just to go. Until I started taking a little bit of aloe vera. Within a week I was able to stand up longer than a minute without difficulty breathing and also I was able to have bowel movements without water enemas. My question to you all here is do you experience more air hunger upon excertion or any bodily functions that require energy???

You need to see a doctor and get a formal diagnosis. Please don't try and self-diagnose via the internet or this forum.

Your questions should all be directed to your doctor. They will closely monitor your situation, and advise you what type of procedure would be best for you. They are experts in dealing with difficult situations. It's quite possible that you suffer from anxiety and don't realize it.

I know this is an old thread. Wondering if anybody is still here. I just ran across it, and I have a question. All of this fits my symptoms PERFECTLY. I've been struggling with breathing for almost a year. O2 saturation is fine. But I feel like I'm not getting enough air. Feels like I need to take deep breaths, but then when I do, it gets worse. I feel it right in the center of my breastbone, and then in my back. Surgeon wants to take out my gallbladder. It is scheduled for July 5th. I am not at all convinced it will help.

Here is my questions: I had an upper endoscopy, and he found nothing significant in terms of reflux. He did a Bravo test and that also only found one incidence of reflux. No damage to esophagus that he saw. But all of this was done at the same time as a colonoscopy. And I wasn't symptomatic at all afterward. I keep thinking that of course I wasn't -- my entire digestive tract was cleared out. I asked doctor, he said it wouldn't make a difference. So my question is -- has anybody else had a normal endoscopy and/or Bravo and still been diagnosed with silent reflux? The symptoms fit me so perfectly!!
