soda after nisen fundoplication surgery

Cant seem to get a straight answer about this. Can you drink soda after this surgery. First they told me 6 weeks after surgery, then another nurse told me you will never be able to drink it.

You can drink it after surgery, but in my experience it caused way too much gas and discomfort and I just eliminated it from my diet.

I've had soda in small amounts since surgery 3 months ago. But just a little. My doctor told me that flat soda or beer will be easier to tolerate and I've read about others that have soda years after surgery without a problem. I personally don't care for soda much but I haven't read or heard that it's a lifetime ban.

Since you're not likely to be able to burp, do you really want all that gas in your stomach? I couldn't burp at first, but 2 years post-op started to be able to burp a little. It depends on how tight the wrap is made and how much it loosens over time.

Soda isn't food, so it's a good idea to substitute something that is actually worth drinking, even for those who don't have the surgery.

thanks for the advice I can burp a little bit but I notice I get pain when I drink soda in my stomach.
I used to love soda and beer just drink very little of it now.
