Hi SJTMI,
If your surgery is labroscopic your recovery will be much faster than open, but what has been cut, pushed, changed, moved and stitched inside is exactly the same, so you need to be mindful of the internal healing, which is hard to appreciate.
I'm 2 weeks post surgery and feeling good though it's been a struggle. Regardless of the impact of pain, the surgery, anaesthetic and healing, the liquid diet means energy levels are low so it is VERY easy to overdo it. You can't rush the food - just see what your wrap will settle with and give it time to get bedded in as it is a new structure so it too gets tired.
I was signed off work for 2 full weeks post surgery and only drove again yesterday which was uncomfortable. Bending and lifting isn't a good idea - initially it felt very wrong and definitely upset my wrap.
You'll heal better and faster if you properly rest initially - I'd have thought 2 weeks min, and just focus on getting well and eating & drinking enough.
Perhaps if you tell surgeon about what your job entails they may advise better? Best to be safe though.
