What's harder - The 3 & 6 months before the surgery or 3 & 6 months after?

As someone considering getting a Toupet/HH repair, I'd love to get some perspective from those who have had this surgery. I obviously heard that the recovery is very hard, but then again, it seems to be new symptoms that people deal with, as with many, the GERD/Reflux seems to stop after the surgery (not for everyone, I know).

So, I'm curious what people considered more difficult...The 3 and 6 months of symptoms after the surgery, or the 3 and 6 months before, of the symptoms that all of you were trying to eradicate?

After. I had nissen. My recovery was rougher than most I think. Had gas bloat because I unconsciously swallow when my Esophagus is irritated. I have been doing it for years, wish I had noticed it before the surgery so I knew it was coming. Plus the feeling of having a surgeried stomach feels quite concerning.
