Hi Tena:
I hate to keep repeating what others have said, but you are still really early into your recovery and I believe you are expecting things to happen way too soon. Put out of your mind what recovery your friend has had, it's not the norm. In my situation, I can no longer belch, so gas and bloating will continue to be an issue. I choose to watch what I eat and I am over 3 years post-surgery. You should be trying things that are considered soft/sloppy like scrambled eggs, oatmeal, cereals, jello, etc. Part of the problem is that a lot of surgeons don't go into great detail about
recovery and what to expect. This in turn creates a lot of anxiety for the patient who is led to believe that the recovery is easy, and quick. If you want some suggestions, you can google the diet I used UPMC Post-Nissen diet.
Just relax and take it day to day.
