Hello, haven't posted in a while... I want to know if anyone has had this issue I am 9 months post op. and am still having trouble eating, I still have to eat small amounts of food.. I must have ate to much last nite and had a gas/bloat right at bed time... wasn't a good nite... I have not been able to pick up weight either..

Hi Tena..am from India..I'm 1 month post nissen..still have heartburn ..my endoscopy shows successful wrap and my surgeon who is very experienced says its the optimal wrap ,not too loose and not too tight..but i hv acid reflux, am still on ppis , and I HV wheezing too..much depressed and don't know what to do..one more thing, I can eat without any difficulty other than some gas and reflux..

I had Nissen on 4/16 and I do not feel that my stomach is much smaller I eat quite a bit of mashed potatoes and mushy food

You are so early in your recovery. It's common to have acid reflux early on in your recovery and some people do take PPIs after surgery. When you doctor advises you to stop taking the PPIs, make sure they tell you how to wean off of them to prevent acid rebound. I didn't start to feel better until around 6 months post-surgery and my "new" me at approximately 1 year. Keep in mind that everyone's recovery is different.

Did you go for a second opinion? I still eat multiple meals throughout the day. Are you still working with the nutritionist?

Thank you Sharon Z for your reply.. Many people on this forum say that they have zero reflux after the surgery..that's y I think that mine has failed..

Yes, I went to Motility doctor.. she thought it was of constipation. but, that is no longer an issue I tried to get back in touch with her for two weeks. finally talked with her nurse yesterday... hopefully something will change soon... I still eat several meals a day... I am not with a nutritionist any longer. I don't understand why I am having so much trouble with this surgery??? I feel so discouraged.....

I'm not sure whether I asked this before, or not - did anything show up on your manometry prior to surgery? I know it's been a while, but did you have a full or partial wrap? You had a dilation, right?

Tena. it took me 1. 5 years to start eating at my new normal. i was a 215 lb, very athletic individual, prior to surgery. after surgery at my lowest weight, i dropped to 177 lbs. even at the 1.5, gas was an issue, certain food were still an issue, and volume of food at any time, was still a little tricky. fast forward. at just under 3 years, i can pretty much eat, what i want, at more normal portions. gas still happens, but not as bad. weight has been stable at 190 lbs, hence the new normal. you will get there. this recovery, is a fight. no, make that a war. hang in there.

Hi Sharon, yes I had a manometry test and it was excellent. And I did have one dilation. I had a full wrap. And thank you so much for replying makes me feel like I'm not in this all alone!

Hi Aero,, thank you so much for your reply my goodness I was able to take a deep breath... I hope so because I've been so fearful and panicky about it afraid that they're going to want to take it down or undo it and put a partial in. and I just don't want to do any other kind of surgery! and it not so much the gas.. as the gas bloat!! that just knocks the grude out of me!!

I was eating well until last week then that's when i started feeling it sticking again but without the acid reflux sensations. I mentioned on another post about this the other day. Maybe, I need to adjust my diet again and take a step back and eat slower. I've ate meat today and though I felt it pass past my Wrap aftet the swallow. It went down fine. The same goes for the sandwich I just ate. (My other account was J240890) I keep forgetting my password. 🙈

I do feel so much better since the operation on March 13th, 2017.

SharonZ and gave me good advice about chew, chew my food because we can forget.

but I went 14 months without any problems at all. Then, I started feeling that slow to go down again kind of sticking again with some foods others its slow to go down and it's kind of knocked me back mentally. Other than that, I feel well.

I am glad your feeling well... I haven't felt good since the surgery... keep waiting to...I do have a new sensation right in between my rib cage....

Hello John, the new sensation is it feels really tight and like gas is trapped in there... I have had the trapped gas feeling but not this high... Thanks for asking..

I think that's normal but I'm 14 months exactly. I think in recovery even though 12 months is a long time we both experience different issues. It's like over time that trap gas will settle. I remember reading somewhere to walk it helps. I remember going for slow walks around the garden when I felt cramp and trapped gas in my stomach and it helped move it out. I felt really good up until last week like I said and my food all of a sudden seems to be sticking a little. It's a long recovery process Alot more.

A lot longer than I was expecting!! sure will be glad when I can just eat normal and not feel like a snake that just ate a mouse! lol! and pick up some weight... I use to weight 136.. now I weight 105!!! Thanks for your encouragement!

Everything will be fine for you and me both when we heal properly and many others on here. It's very stressful but adapt and embrace it and you'll recover faster. I dropped to 10 stone 12 pounds after about 4-6 weeks but I'm putting myself on a strict diet diet because I want to lose a stone and half. Other than one or two issues I feel fine and I can imagine that's the same as you.

Just curious I mentioned my breathlessness that comes and goes. What can be the cause of that? It only started last summer when I was fitting a carpet and cutting it up and putting it into bags. Since then its been on and off. Cew days im great few days with gasping sensations.

I not sure have you checked with a doctor? could be the from the carpet I believe they give off some kind of chemical...

It could be something as simple as allergies, but I would schedule an appointment with a pulmonary doctor for piece of mind.

Ive thought it could be that aswell to be honest but I've noticed aswell. When i hold my right nostril I'm unable to inhale out left nostril. Maybe this is causing my breathlessness on and off.
