Hi everyone,
I want to start by thanking you for your time to tell your experiences and helping.
I had my surgery 18 days ago, had a massive hiatus hernia which I lived with for a good 10 years, I'm 31 one now.
The doctors were extremely pleased with the surgery, even though I had an internal bleeding from my spleen during the surgery.
As soon as I woke up I had the usual shoulder pain but was able to swallow without any pain and burping.
I didn't take a single omeprazol since that day because I had absolutely no heart burn or symptoms.
I was very pleased and relived.
For the first 14 days I was on a liquid diet and after that the doctor told me I could have soft foods.
I had my sister wedding yesterday and I had soft foods but I'm scared I might have had more food than I should, usually I have small meals a few times a day, but yesterday I had a bit more but still a few times. I felt fine yesterday, no pain at all, but I woke this morning and a couple hours after I have some heart burn and I'm burping a lot.
It isn't a lot heartburn but enough to scare me and leave me a bit sad that I might have pushed it yesterday and ruin all the hard work I've had so far.
I've had just a few table spoons of Jell-O this morning and I'm gonna take an omeprazol and see if this is just my "dumb organ" acting up.
I know it can take 6 months to be symptom free and healed better but I can't stop being scared I messed up.
Anyone experienced this and then the heart burn went away again?
Thank you,
Mario

Sorry to hear that, did you had any trouble swallowing or any other pain? How are you dealing with the rest of the recovery?

Mario..
I don't have any swallowing difficulties.. I hv had moderate gas bloating..that subsided when I cud burp freely from the second week onwards..I am eating anything now..my main concern is that I'm still on ppis..without them I hv heartburn and lpr..no difference before and after the surgery..you had only one episode of heartburn, right?

Yeah so far one, I took a ppi and didn't really go away, the whole point for me of the surgery was the heartburn as it was incapacitating sometimes. So I'm back on soft foods this week and liquids to make sure it heals very well.
