Hey hope everyone is doing okay out there! I have a history of asthma and anxiety and lately have been having difficulty breathing that is not helped by my asthma medication or Prednisone. The pulmonology group I go to and my general physician and an air nose and throat doctor seemed to think it maybe some sort of acid reflux or GERD issue. Right now I am taking 20 mg of protonix And have been doing so for the last couple months with little affect on my breathing. Has anyone had breathing problems related to Gerd and if so what did you end up doing to rectify the situation are there any other medicines that work better for this that I can speak with my physician about ?? Thanks guys!

You might ask your doctor about upping the Protonix to twice a day. Have you had an endoscopy or barium swallow done?

He said protonix is iffy twice a day because of calcium depletion, I am waiting 3 more weeks then he said we will explore some tests or send me to a gastro.

I get breathless even when resting I can run 5k and aren’t as bad and I’m on double dose ppis(not helping) been told it could be down to non acidic reflux which gets up to the nose, ears and can maybe get in the lungs. Yet to find a solution been told only option could be surgery.

Who told you these things regular dr or gastric? Never heard of non acidic reflux hope you get some answers

Was told if you take ppis they neutralise most of the acid we reflux but ppis don’t stop reflux, so we are still refluxing pepsin and tomach contents which can cause damage.
