I just found out about
this site today. I have found in the past that as patients we need to stay on top of our illnessess and unfortunately not always believe what the doctor says...
45 year old male here in Atlanta GA..
Anyway been suffering with bloating and gas since mid January...it abated for about two weeks and came back. I would eat the smallest meal ( cereal for example) and feel like I ate a ten course italian meal! Antiacids did not seem to help..
It went away for about two weeks and I thought it was a stomach flu..came back Friday after eating Chinese for lunch...was stuffed all day and had a bowl of soup for supper...now when I eat I feel bloated. Went to GP yesterday. Blood test was normal. His initial diagnosis was hiatul hernial and GRD. Prescribed Nexium..Been on the drug for two days now and did not know you had to wait an hour before you ate..he gave me samples to save money...I do not get the heartburn that often...it is mostly bloated feeling..no vomiting...bowel movements are normal...just discomfort after I eat...
I am concerned that it might be something else...doctor did say if not better in two weeks would send me for upper GI series..
Eating small meals because hunger is just not there...like it once was for me.
I am concerned and must admit with the advent of the web one can read up on many diseases out there and scare ones self to death..I have self diagnosed myself already reading symptoms of other stomach ailments...
1. Amybody ever recover from this with minimal impact on life?
2. Does it sound like GERD?
3. If not what does it sound like from experience?
4. How long before Nexium starts to work?
