I'm wondering if the Advair is contributing to burning feelings. Does the doc have any concerns over you stopping that cold turkey? There's no way I would stop the prilosec, if I had gotten some relief. You're going to get some rebound, and you'll be right back where you started.
I would also never consider the Stretta procedure, if I hadn't tried to get this under control with the prudent use of meds.
It's my understanding that the Stretta procedure uses lazors to burn your lower esophogus so that it builds up scar tissue, which hopefully will decrease the size of the LES. You don't even know that that's your problem, do you? There's no way on earth I would jump to that yet..........but that's just my 2 cents.
You need to approach this problem rationally.....one step at a time. The first thing I would do would find out if any of the other meds I was on, was actually increasing my reflux.....which can happen with a number of drugs.
I think I would definitely try a different doctor too. You don't want to jump from the fire into the frying pan, 4kidsmom.
Your endoscopy will give the doc lots of information. He will be able to check out your LES, etc. But since you have gotten some relief from the prilosec, don't mess with it.
