Hi everyone
Has anyone ever switched PPI and then tapered off that new PPI?
I’ve been on 80mg of Pantaprazole for close to year and desperately want off this stuff!
TIA

If your intent is to wean off of your PPI, I would ask your PCP for a plan on how to do it properly. 80 mg is a higher dosage, and you would want to make sure that you do it with the least amount of rebound.

Hi Sharon
I have asked them and gotten a plan but I want to hear from other people if they’ve had success doing things differently as the plan didn’t work for me before. Thanks

Sometimes it's very difficult to avoid rebound acid when stopping PPIs. You can always take something like Pepcid at bedtime to help alleviate some of the symptoms. I was able to quit Protonix cold turkey and not suffer any rebound effects, so everyone is different.
