I had epigastric pain (below sternum) through to my back most of the time, and along my ribs, first along the right side, then along the left side.
I previously had been diagnosed with GERD and hiatus hernia but since eliminating some foods and not eating large meals and not eating within 3 hours of going to bed, I have had no symptoms; I had few symptoms before, mostly just the epigastric pain.
But continued pain led to further evaluation. I had pancreatitis. Further evaluation of the pancreas through Ultrsound, MRCP (like an MRI), and ERCP and EUS (both scope procedures) were done to rule out pancreatic cancer. Luckily it was ruled out!
I am still having epigastric pain and right rib area pain so I am going to another GI specialist and possibly another surgery to look at the common bile duct and pancreatic duct and their pressures, because both revealed to be dialated/enlarged.
So, please make an appointment with a Gastroenterologist and see what else they might want to look at so they can give you some relief and peace of mind.
I'll be thinking of you!
