I got a 404 Document not found error when trying to access your link. What were the surgeries?

I know I looked at a couple of possibilities several years ago. They were too new for my tastes and since then the results have been less then sterling.

There are basically two surgeories that they indicated were very effective. The first one woudl burn the muscles of the lower esophagal sphincter, creatign scars which would block acid reflux, the other would sew part of the stomach right below the LES to block reflux when the stomach is full..

I have had the second you are referring to. It is called a Nissan Wrap. They take the top of your stomach and sew it around the bottom of your esophagus. It was a very easy surgery for me to have. I still have to take Nexium, but that is ok. At least, I am no longer aspirating into my lungs. I had to sleep in a recliner for about 8 weeks before they could even do the surgery. The sotmach acid had burned my lungs severly. It took my lungs almost 4 years to heal. I have been on so many medicaitons becasue of this, that it has caused me alot of side effects, esp. from prolonged steroid use.

But back to the stomcah surgery, it was well worht it to me to have that part corrected. Good luck. J

Dear everybody, I am super scared to have surgery. I guess I am just a big old sissy. Avoid surgery and use it as a last resort only.

I agree. I also would say be very careful with medicine. I never had any problems till I followed a quack (doctor I no longer go to) advice and took tons of RX only to be told by him to quit cold turkey cause I could not even hold my head up. Obviously I did not need them but they left me with GERD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I have edited my post to include a link to my webpage that has the images and text of the article embedded for easy reading.

Its just amazing to me how while reading these treatments from the article, it sounds like there is such hope with them, yet 5 years later, I haven't heard ANYTHING about them at all, no successes, no failures....just mind boggling.

I just found out that ppi's have a 24 hour suspension. Best for me to take at night with my extra zelnorm. I have metarsalgia (both feet), osteoarthritis, asthma, allergies (especiallly to meds), hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome and GERD.

Gee, I too JBrat, also have depression.  I can not imagine why.

Currently am dealing with a gastric bleeding ulcer which is quite painful.
