I know this has been discussed before but could not find it in the archives. How many of you out there get remittent heartburn even while on meds. I was in Hawaii last week and no problems until the last day we were driving and all of a sudden it came on. It only lasted about 10 minutes but it gave me major panic attacks.

Any info would be great.

Anyone ot there or am I the only one. I take 20 mg of perscription prilosec a day.

I am going back to Doc next week

Heartburn is not one of my symptoms...sore throat is. I'm taking my meds like clockwork everyday had was feeling much better until a week ago when the sore throat started yet again.

I still can't figure out why...isn't the PPI supposed to stop the acid production...which in turn stops acid from damaging/irritating the esophagus?

Sigh...I'm so discouraged.

Thanks Meryl for replying to my post I have been freaking out about this. I was fine on my prilosec for six monts. On september 1st I felt it coming on and it lasted around 10 minutes. This past Friday its been consistent I feel like my throat is burning. I am so scared its cancer.

I have had this problem off and on for a little over three years. I am so sick of it.

I know exactly how you're feeling. Although the ENT told me I had no inflammation when I was scoped (a little over a month now), now that the burning throat is back, I am also scared it's cancer. The ENT scope only looked as far down as the upper sphincter. Anything lower requires a Gastroscopy...which I'm scheduled for in February!! That's 6 months away! I don't think I can wait that long and will be looking into alternatives come Monday.

Although I do not know a lot about throat cancers, I have heard it's quite aggressive and if you've had burning throat for 3 years, I think it may be safe to assume that it's not...

Have you had a Gastroscopy/Endoscopy done?
