Has any female sufferers of GERD noticed that symptoms seem to 'flare-up' or become worse during certain times of the month?

Hi Meryl me again. I am starting to go through menopause (at 41) and am feeling it has gotten worse since the doc told me this was going on....: 0 (.  I thought my lack of no period was stress related and after going through a battery of testing was told this.....lol

I just thought it may be related because I feel it more at certain times. But then it could be my imagination. This whole GERD thing is so strange. I thought I was getting better and was about to go off the PPI's but WHAMMO!! Back it comes. I'm still toying with the idea of going off it regardless, but will wait till I see my doctor.

Yes, absolutely.
When I was on HRT, I had reflux all the time. Was on aciphex for about 5 years. I was able to come off the aciphex when I came off the HRT.
I am in menopause now, but I can tell you that I get reflux back at the same time I get my other hormonal symptoms........headaches, increased appetite, diarrhea, etc. Even though I'm in menopause, I still get hormonal fluctuation symptoms and reflux is definitely part of it.
I think that low estrogen can maybe make our esophoguses a bit limp. I also get food caught in my esophogus more during the hormonal times. Ain't it fun??

I definately notice that my symptoms are a lot worse during that time of the month as well.
