help...................frustrated with gerd and other symptom

please i hope that someone could help me.  i am pleased to read all of the supportive advice given to eachother.  ok i had a "sinus infection" last year were the whole right side of my face hurt.  also with the post nasal drip.  i had the lump sensation in my throat too.  i was prescribed antibiotic for the sinus, and nexium, but now on prilosec (nexium too expensive).  i am still having problems and its been over a year now!  like a pain on the right side of my throat(by "adams apple") i dont have a sore throat though.  i have not been taking the prilosec because i do not want to get in the routine of taking meds.  i feel once you start with one, then you'll end up on four.  anyway  its the pain, and the clearing of the throat.  my doc said gerd, but i did not read symptoms of pain in the throat on the message board from anyone with gerd.  i think its gerd, but could it be something else too?  i had a cbc blood test done, and that was ok.  could someone please help me, and let me know what to do to get rid of this whole thing.  gerd, pain in the throat?  it is very frustrating and hard for me to focus on life sometimes from so much worry.

thanks for the reply.  actually my doc scheduled a barium swallow test for me at the local hospital, i went there and my doc got the results back and came to the conclusion that it was gerd.  i guess i had holes in my esophagus that needs to get repaired.  i really hate taking meds, but am also afraid that if i let this go for so long, that it would turn into barretts cancer.  and hey that pain on the right side of the throat.  what is that?  the location on the side by the adams apple(female), do you know what that is called?  thyroid, thymus?  i dont know.  i am overweight though, and my doc put me on a strictttt diet of 1200 calories a day.  its hard, and honestly i have not stuck to it.  my husband gave me an herb called slippery elm, and that soothes sore throat.  you can go to your local health food store, they should have it.  and another herb called orange peel is supposed to relieve you of gerd.  have you heard of this before?

THANKS SKOOBY FOR THE REPLY. ACTUALLY MY DOC SCHEDULED A BARIUM SWALLOW TEST FOR ME, AND THAT WAS IT. NOW I THINK THAT I NEED TO GO BACK FOR THE SCOPE TEST. I JUST HAVE A DRY THROAT, NOT SORE, AND PAIN ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY "ADAMS APPLE" I DONT KNOW THE FEMALE TERMINOLOGY OF THAT, BUT THE FEELING IS UNCOMFORTABLE AT TIMES, AND ITS JUST ON THE RIGHT SIDE. WHAT IS THAT? HAVE YOU TRIED APPLE CIDAR VINEGAR? ITS GOOD WITH THE REFLUX, BUT IT UPSET MY STOMACH AFTER AWHILE.

I HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH YOUR ENDOSCOPY TEST. ITS JUST SO AMAZING TO SEE SO MANY PEOPLE GOING THROUGH THE SAME ISSUES AS I AM. FOR A MINUTE THERE I THOUGHT THAT WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH ME WAS ABNORMAL BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF GERD BEFORE. MY DOCTOR EVEN TOLD ME THAT HE HAS IT! HE ALSO SAID THAT 60% OF THE POPULATION HAS GERD. ITS SO WEIRD, I JUST WANT THIS TO GO AWAY. BUT HEY, I AM OVERWEIGHT. I AM 5'5 AND WEIGH 225 POUNDS. THIS IS THE BIGGEST WEIGHT I HAVE EVER BEEN. I WAS DEPRESSED BEFORE AND LOST ALOT OF WEIGHT. I DID NOT LIKE THE WAY THAT I LOOKED BECAUSE I KNOW THAT THE WEIGHT LOST WAS FROM DEPRESSION. SO I ATE, AND ATE, AND ATE UNTIL I GAINED ALL OF THE WEIGHT BACK PLUS. I DID NOT CARE WHAT I ATE AT THE TIME. AND NOW I BELIEVE THE END RESULT OF THAT IS GERD. NOW I WANT TO LOSE THE WEIGHT AGAIN, BUT I GOT SO COMFORTABLE THAT ITS HARD FOR ME TO REALLY BE CONSISTANT. CRAZY HUH??
