I have found it next to impossible to be without simultants.  I cut down to 2 cups of coffee a day but found my "get up and go" had "gotten up and gone".  I was listless.  Maybe I can have green tea instead?  I saw one goggle site which said it was good. I have also read on the net that decaf coffee also has a lot of acid.  Any thoughts? redface

I love good fresh coffee in the morning too. I've found that if I drink Aloe Vera juice (tastes awful unless mixed with juice) every day, I feel better with less esophageal pain. Hope this helps.VIEW IMAGE

Hey Joan.. I too have been trying to cut out the coffee and sodas and caffeine as a whole.. and it is tough.. I drink diet green tea... it has some caffeine in it, but not too much... plus to me, it helps give me a little bit of a boost.. it has anti-oxidants in it, and it is said to help speed up your metabolism... just how much, I don't know... I like the taste of it, and it does help me "get up and go" in the morning... not like my coffee did, but I'll take what I can get!

You know, ducky, me too especially here in the GREAT NORTHEAST USA, it gets kind of chilly and a good cup of hot tea...green tea is fine is the ticket in the afternoon. Mornings and coffee are essential for me too. But I have been doing better on that. Down to 2 or 3 cups.

World Market has a lot of different teas, I like Celestial Seasonings caffeine free teas and STASH has a good blueberry tea and I like Gloria Jeans Hot Cocoa. How can you live without hot cocoa once in awhile. Don't you need a chocolate fix????(lol) yeah

Yes I like the celestial seasonings caffeine free teas and I drink diet hot chocolate sometimes too plus I have a tablespoon of olvatine almost every day. I like liquids a lot. But the caffeine stuff is an up and I am beat from asthma and stuff and that's why I want it.

Yeah! I know what you mean the Asthma can be a pain. I have asthma, allergies, mild gerd stuff, going for an MRI on my lower back tomorrow might have a disk problem could've been from my recent asthma flairs don't know just feel too beat up to care. Can't wait for this year to end..
Also, had a ruptured tendon in my left foot, 3 eye surgeries on my right eye now my back problems, Right now I'd buy you a cup of java from starbucks if it'd mean I'd feel better...

I drink a cup of decaf coffee in the morning......I'm still trying to find a good alternative to it. I like chamomile but not in the morning.

I had some decaf on Saturday night and I noticed a distinct pain in throat. Maybe it is the acid in coffee whether decaf or real. I also saw that KAVA is an alternative for coffee on the net. I forgot to look for it in the store though. Might check that out soon.

sad  I understand your wanting the get up and go.... I have severve acid reflux and hernia and had to give up coffee, and had a real hard time doing that!  It is the coffee been itself that causes the more acid in your system, not so much the caffine, I tried decaf and low acid coffee to no avail.... I gave up the coffee two weeks ago, and I am a little better, some days more that others.  With coffee, I feel like I gonna die from the burning.  I now drink 100% aloe vera juice to heal my esophagus. It helps alot, but I still suffer.  Going in for upper GI series on Wednesday the 18th, maybe they will find out what is going on....

I have been a long time coffee drinker, and I survived giving it up and can't believe it!

Well maybe I'm just old and cheap but I don't like the way Folgers tastes so I did not buy their new "simply smooth" brand.  One of my doctors (my allergist) said don't expect perfection right away...so I am satisfied with my 2 or 3 coffees and my weight loss.  However, I am trying to lose more weight and exercising.  I can't use anything for pain now but tylenol and that is a drag since alleve works well for me.  My prime care doc told me to just wait and find out what the situation is with my gastritis to see if I can take more effective pain killers...alleve, for me.

WAITING FOR ANSWERS...THAT MAKES TWO OF US!!!!!!!!!!!!!
