Silllylilly, I sure did have acid coming up into my throat. I swear sometimes it even made my lips feels like they were burning. Some days my throat was so scorched and sensitive that even touching my neck would make me choke and gag.
You're right, Leaky Gut isn't good. Fortunately tho it's not considered a disease, but is a malfuction of the bowels that can be caused by many things. Mine was a combination of poor diet due to prolonged stress. Some days I felt so sick I couldn't eat and wasn't sleeping at night for days on end. Eventually it caught up to me in the form of Leaky Gut. The good news is it can be reversed by diet, and I'm doing very well now compared to 3 months ago. I seriously thought I was dying because I'd never felt so sick before in my life. Leaky Gut btw, is when the inner intestinal walls perforate, allowing toxic debris to enter the blood stream. It's quite debilitating and can cause alot of other health problems as well. Acid reflux is one of the "side effects". Personally I don't think it matters how you get acid reflux, the symptoms and damage are the same. Which is why our symptoms do sound alike...they are.
Have you tried an alkaline diet yet? If not, I would strongly encourage you to. It does make a big difference. If our body's pH is too acidic...you'll get sick...in one way or another. I can't explain it, but since my pH has normalized, my acidic stomach has really calmed down. Please give it a try. Go to a drugstore and get yourself pH test strips and check your urine daily to see what's going on. Trust me, if I can do it and it works for me...it can and will for you, too. Do this for yourself and be well.
Of course I, and many others here will be here to support you. Hang in there. You can make yourself well again.
