does nexium really work?

I have pretty bad acid reflux & it makes me really scared because my uncle died from esophageal cancer and it was caused by horrible acid reflux. I'm looking into trying Nexium but I'm not sure if it will work or not. Does anyone know if it really works for both healing & stopping the acid reflux?

What works for one person may not work for another. Have your doctor give you samples of Nexium, that way you can see if they work for you. If they don't work, have your doctor give you samples of something else. It is all trial and error.

I was on Protonix for about 6 months and it worked beautifully and then it stopped working and the Gerd came with a vengeance. I have been on Nexium for over 6 weeks, while I am a little better to me it seems as if it is taking forever. I know the pharmacy information says symptoms don't usually improve for about 4-8 weeks (so I guess in the mean time one has to grin and bear it until the medicine kicks in) would be me guess.
