It is amazing how menopause can cause other symptoms to appear or escalate. I may have gone without a period for almost three years, but that doesn't mean it's over! I also have the palpitations, which is a new thing, but I'm happy to say that the GERD has subsided greatly.
I continue to take 20 mg. of Prilosec a day (I take mine at lunchtime), but have really increased my fiber (fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc) and for some reason something is working. I suffered from chronic constipation, but no longer. Drinking alot of water, very little to no alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, etc.
But, I still have motion sickness and another new meno - hot flashes. I guess if I had to pick GERD or hot flashes, I'd take the last one.
Maybe we should get a menopause forum going!!! But all seriously, try the increased fiber - I read that Irritable Bowel Syndrome can cause GERD, and the best way to help the GERD is to correct the IBS first. Good Luck!
