Has anyone tried Colon Hydro therapy?

I have been reading up on Colon hydro therapy and surprised to find out that perhaps one could have lots of stagnant old fecal matter in our large intestine (literally rotting in the large intestine).  I wonder if perhaps this could cause gastro intestinal problems (gerd).  I am thinking perhaps this may help but not sure.  Has anyone tried this procedure and if so, what was their experience?  Maybe the colon cleansing could help with acid reflux and would like to ask my Gastro doctor.  Any input on the subject???????? Also, but if one got a colonoscopy couldn't the doctor tell if the patient has lots of old/hard fecal matter in the colon??? Just a thought.......

The colon does a very good job of cleaning itself out. So, any sort of colonic is totally unnecessary and could be dangerous. Definitely talk with your doctor before doing anything like this.

The prep for a colonoscopy would clear EVERYTHING out.

Constipation can make GERD symptoms worse.

Dakotagirl:  Thanks for your reply!!! I would like to ask my Gastro doctor but he always sulks (and I know he gets annoyed) whenever I mention a natural alternative.  I know I have a good doctor because he attended Harvard Medical School and interned at Mayo but still he doesn't believe in alternative medicine.  In fact, I have an appointment with an Internist who is a M.D. and is also a naturopatic healer (I guess that is what you'd call him).  He is going to cost me a small fortune because he is not part of my network but I have heard he is good.  What you say makes sense about the cleaning prior to the colonoscopy.  When you say it could be dangerous do you mean it could rupture the colon?  I am just so tired of this Gerd.  I am on a double dose of Nexium, while I am a little better compared to how I was in Jan/Feb I still reflux some and still have the chest pain and follow all of the Gerd rules.  On my last visit with him he said he wanted me on the 80 mg of Nexium for at least 4 more months.  I think that is too long but if I try to taper off the acid comes back in spades/10 fold.

Yes you can have a build up of fecal matter in your intestines. I had UC for 30 years and many many Colonoscopies and the Dr didn't tell me that I had a buildup. I did the colon cleanse for 8 weeks, with herbal cleanse called Colonix which is a whole kit for the cleanse. I passed a lot of very gross stuff,a foot long piece of stuff that was really gross and more.

Lo and behold after 30 years of hemorrhaging

almost to death,and many hospital stays,the Ulcerative Colitis was gone. That has been 2 years ago and now I do not take any meds. for UC,at all.

It will do you a world of good and you'll be sooo glad you did. You can combine the herbal cleanse with the colonics but I only did the herbs.

Achoo did you do the procedure yourself?  I have been reading up on the process and it can be a touchy subject.  Many people don't believe in colonics especially doctors.  My sister even said it was rubbish and that it could be dangerous.  She thinks that when you get the colon prep for the colonoscopy that that in itself would clear out your colon and the doctor would see the supposed old/crusted fecal matter during the colonoscopy.  I am so desperate to get over this Gerd that I'd be willing to try it if it would really help.  I think to be on the safe side I will ask my Gastro doctor (even though I already know the answer) a big NO!!!! I do have an appointment on the 23rd with an Internist and am going to ask him too so that I can get a second opinion.  I am glad to know it helped you and are feeling better.....

If you ask any Dr they will say that Colon Cleanse doesn't do any good.I also have asked the Dr ! I know that the colon cleanse  did wonders for me.

I have had many colonoscopies ( 20 or so over the years)and it did not clean out the bad stuff. I passed a foot long piece that looked like hemp rope and was 2 inches in diameter. I also passed many green stones.

 I believe that I would have bled to death, if I hadn't done the cleanse.I would get as many as 7 pints of blood in the hospital.  Blood count for a women is 12 pints. My blood count was  4. I used Colonix kit for 8 weeks! After about 3 weeks the nasties started to pass.I kept on doing it for 5 more weeks. READ on the internet "Death Begins in the Colon". It will explain all about Colon Cleanse!

I did a few Colonics  with a professional! I found that expensive,and it didn't work well.

 I don't know if it cures GERD but it certainly helped me. I don't use any meds.,and before I was on Azulfadine,Prednisone, Asacol and many more.  If your looking for a Dr's OK on Colon Cleanse,you won't get it.

Proton Pump inhibitors, does not cure Gerd,and I have many side efects with it. My bones hurt sooo bad, that I could hardly walk. No Calcium is absorbed,when you use PPI.  Probiotics help with GERD.
