I am starting to think that I need to go into my doctor's appointments looking very good, and very relaxed.
I get naive and think that I can share things and then all they do is tell me that I have an anxiety problem and then I feel so much worse.
If GERD is caused by anxiety, then the doctors making us feel like we are cuckoo will only make it worse. This is the "gaslight effect."
Telling me that I have an anxiety problem and looking at me strangely only gives me MORE anxiety. This makes the GERD worse. IT's a vicious cycle.
I think that only a therapist should be the one who decides if a person has an anxiety problem, NOT the GI doctor or primary doctor. And, the therapist should be a good, caring one (one that you trust, and one that you connect well with)...
